Kuvaus
Amiraali Kirkin voitto Khanista ja Genesis-planeetan luominen eivät innosta juhlimaan. Spock on kuollut ja McCoy tulee selittämättömästi hulluksi. Sarekin, Spockin isän yllätysvierailu paljastaa syyn McCoyn kummalliseen käytökseen: McCoy suojelee Spockin sielua sisällään.
Yksi ystävä elossa ja toinen kuolleena, Kirk yrittää pelastaa kivuissa kiemurtelevat ystävänsä valtaamalla U.S.S. Enterprisen TM ja uhmaa Tähtilaivaston Genesis-planeetan karanteenia. Mutta myös klingonit ovat tietoisia Genesisin salaisuudesta ja kilpajuoksu alkaa.
